Why did some characters stay unchanged?
Only characters in the supported mapping are replaced. There is no lowercasing or removal of unsupported text. An unsupported or incomplete marked span stays literal, including its marker.

Type text to make copyable subscript letters and numbers. For formulas, choose marked notation to lower only the parts you mark.
Convert supported lowercase letters, numbers and signs as you type. Uppercase letters stay. For a formula such as 2H₂O, choose the formula example.

Every digit changes all ASCII digits. To leave coefficients and other numbers alone, use Marked notation and write 2H_2O. Braces can enclose supported letters and signs, as in a_{n+1}. The tool does not check the meaning of an equation or chemical formula.
This tool substitutes Unicode characters rather than applying rich-text formatting. Digits have a complete mapping. Letter coverage is partial: superscript supports some capitals; subscript keeps capitals unchanged. Accented characters, emoji and unsupported scripts remain intact. Appearance and search or screen-reader behavior depend on the app where you paste.

For editable equations or accessible document notation, use your editor’s native subscript formatting or equation tools. These outputs are plain Unicode text.
