English to Urdu Typing
Type how it sounds (salam, shukriya, kaise ho) and pick the Urdu word from the candidates that appear. Useful when you can speak Urdu but can't type Nastaliq on the keyboard in front of you.
Type Latin (e.g. salam) → press Space or Enter to pick a candidate. Use ←/→ to switch between candidates. Esc clears the current word.
Type Urdu the way it sounds
Write Urdu using the English letters you already know. Type a word the way it sounds, like salam or shukriya, and it turns into Urdu script: سلام, شکریہ. A suggestion row shows the best spellings for what you typed. Press Space or Enter to accept the highlighted one, use the arrow keys to move between suggestions, or click the one you want.
This works word by word. Type the next word in English letters and keep going; your finished Urdu text builds up in the box, ready to copy with one click and paste into WhatsApp, a document, an email, or a search box.
Right-to-left made easy
Urdu reads right to left, but you never have to fight your keyboard for it. Keep typing English letters left to right as usual; the tool converts each word into proper right-to-left Urdu script and lays out the text box in the correct reading direction automatically. What you copy is standard Unicode Urdu text, ready to paste anywhere Urdu is supported, including apps and documents that render it in Nastaliq style.
Nothing to install and no settings to change. Your regular QWERTY keyboard is enough, on Windows, Mac, Linux, or a phone. If you would rather type on a full on-screen Urdu layout, use the full Urdu Keyboard instead; it also lets you translate, search, and send email in Urdu.
Tips for accurate Urdu spelling
Spell by sound, not by English spelling rules. Use kh for خ, gh for غ, and aa for آ. Double a letter to signal tashdid, the mark that stresses a consonant sound. Retroflex and dental t/d are picked apart by context; if the first suggestion is wrong, the correct spelling is usually next in the row. Common words like hai, nahi, kyun, and aur resolve correctly on the first suggestion.

Is this English to Urdu typing tool free?

Is this the same as translation?
No. Transliteration converts the sound of your words into Urdu script; it does not translate meaning. Type salam and you get سلام, the same word in Urdu script. To translate between English and Urdu, use the translate section of the Urdu Keyboard.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Type with your phone keyboard in English letters and tap the suggestion you want. The copy button works on mobile too.
Can I type full sentences?
Yes, one word at a time. Each Space accepts the current word and you type the next one. Punctuation passes through as you type it.
