Frequently asked questions

Which marks are removed?

The eight standard combining harakat in U+064B-U+0652: three tanwin marks, fatha, damma, kasra, shadda and sukun.

What is preserved?

Hamza, maddah, superscript alef, extended Quranic marks, Persian and Urdu letters, and non-Arabic text stay. This is not a spelling normalizer.

Why can a legacy mark remain?

Some copied documents use Arabic presentation-form characters instead of standard combining marks. These are preserved and flagged for review; the tool does not silently rewrite them.
