Press Convert

Your text is processed in this browser and is not saved. Keep a copy before leaving. Select a fragment to convert only that part, or leave no selection to convert the whole text.

Check punctuation after converting

This uses the Gate2Home Hebrew preset. The English w key produces a Hebrew geresh (׳). A plain ASCII apostrophe in Hebrew input is kept as it is; it is not guessed to be a geresh. For phonetic typing such as shalom, use Hebrew Transliteration from All text tools.

Frequently asked questions

Does this translate or transliterate text?

It changes characters according to the same physical keys in the Gate2Home keyboard presets. It repairs text typed with the wrong layout. It does not translate or guess a word from its pronunciation.

Can I convert part of a mixed-language message?

Select that part in Original text, choose a direction and press Convert. Everything outside the selection stays unchanged. Without a selection, the whole input is converted.

Which keyboard variants are supported?

The plain US and named Gate2Home presets, including their normal and Shift characters. Caps Lock, AltGr and other operating-system layouts are not inferred. Unrecognized characters stay unchanged; review the result before copying.

How does Auto-detect choose a direction?

It checks for Hebrew or lowercase English letters in the full text, or in the selected fragment. Hebrew letters convert to English; lowercase English letters convert to Hebrew. Capital letters are neutral because the Hebrew Shift layer also produces them. If both scripts appear in the checked text, or no directional letters are present, nothing changes and you can choose a direction yourself.

What if a message mixes Hebrew and English?

Select the Hebrew or English-layout fragment you want to fix, then use Auto-detect or choose a direction. Text outside the selection stays unchanged. With no selection, Auto-detect leaves a mixed-script message unchanged.
